Since noon today, the fifth issue is printing! Nice, when everything becomes real. Shame, we won’t be able to transfer the aroma via the net (yet). Besides looking so nice, it smells so good…

We just finished the editing-process for issue 5, next monday, December 12th, the fifth issue is gonna be printed! The decisions concerning the pictures, the texts, and in the end the already layouted spreads has never been so hard and did never hurt as much as for this upcoming issue. We would have loved printing 150 pages due to the great combinations that had evolved while working with the pictures and the texts. Thank you all for your trust and for submitting such a great variety and quality of work. Madness! Joy!

Tilman Dominka deals with the interaction between photographer and model. The overcoming that stands before the question »Are you okay with taking pictures?«, and the sometimes evolving talks. He will be in our portrait for the next seven days.

Yesterday and today, we are working on the texts. It’s just great, how this part of the work on the upcoming, fifth issue, adds another level to the whole magazine. The arising combinations between the pictures and the texts create something new. Thanks to Lydia Daher and Flo Kreier for their fantastic curation!

Statement of Thanh Long, Vietnamese, photo-artist, living in Germany for more than a decade, based in Berlin:

Both, my grandma and my grandpa, fought in three big wars (Indochina/Japan-Vietnam/US-Vietnam). The wonder: They didn’t have any vengeful or bad feelings towards the people coming from any of these formerly enemy-countries. They lived the contrary: austerity, sacrifice, altruism and a will to live!

The photographer Joschka Bruckert – one is reminded of issue 3 of DER GREIF – is publishing Romka-Magazine for a while now. Photographers – be it Artist or Amateurs – submit the picture with the greatest emotional value for themselves, Joscha curates. At the beginning an online-magazine, the 6th issue is about to be published, as a print-product! Congrats, Joscha!

We are currently working on issue 5. Long days & nights, going through emotions, discussions… The enormous number and quality of the submitted works is the basis for a decent jubilee-issue. We are really looking forward to the release, and we can tell that we do our best!

The polish photographer Anna Orlowska, who’s namesakes work we presented three weeks ago, is in our portrait for the next 7 days. The pictures we show are part of the series entitled »The bone will knit in 30 days«. Works from the series »The day before« are published in the fourth issue of DER GREIF.
