The series »Pferde und Autos« (Horses and Cars) is a careful look on village
life in the rural area of Northern Germany. »Pferde und Autos« is based on a photobook
by the same name.
Clara Bahlsen (1978) studied visual communication at the Berlin University of the Arts. She completed her studies as a »masterclass« student of Prof. Fons Hickmann.
»The focus of my artistic work is on photography. Quite often I develop storybooks whose source is serial work. My photography is based on questions concerning topics or contents, but I am also interested in methodical concepts. I sometimes use a specific set of rules or I might choose a certain procedure in order to investigate points of interest or to examine hypotheses. A strong emphasis of my work is to reflect on my own behaviour. But most of all I want to visualize stories.«
